2009 Hall of Fame

The late Ronald McCroby, 68, of Aurora, Ohio, USA.
A famous and distinguished jazz whistler, he was introduced on the Johnny Carson show as a “Puccologist,” a term coined when at a concert the piccolo player was absent. McCroby, a clarinet player, puckered up and without missing a beat, puccoloed (whistled) the piccolo part of “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
